Figure

Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Figure of a girl barefoot, representing Water, in hard-paste porcelain painted with enamels. She is on a rocaille base, supported against a tree stump. She is about to move forward and turns her head to look back over her right shoulder, gesturing with her arm as though inviting someone to follow her. She holds a tankard from which water is spilling over. She wears a pale yellow sleeveless bodice edged and laced in dark purple over a white blouse, a pale orange skirt and pink petticoat both kilted up round her hips with a yellow sash and hemmed in purple. Her hair is caught up in a knot on her head, and tied with a yellow ribbon, and partly covered with a large scarf with a purple hem. Three-sided rocaille base is moulded with scrolls, acanthus leaves and water, and is picked out in beige and pale green.
