The portraits are painted in grisaille, and those on the bowl are tinted for flesh colouring. They represent eight men and eight women. The spaces between the medallions in grisaille and gold- on the top of the cover with masks, naked figures and cornucopias; inside the cover with arabesques in gold and wreaths in grisaille; similarly inside the bowl and outside the bowl with amorini playing musical instruments. The stem is painted with long leaves and round the foot is a wreath of fruit and lion's masks and a border of gilt scrollwork.

Standing dish and cover of enamel painted on copper; on the cover and on the bowl are eight medallions in relief painted on each side with a bust portrait. By Pierre Reymond. French (Limoges); middle of 16th century.
