Object history
Painted by Thomas Cowell (1870-1949), a glass painter at James Powell & Sons, for his own home in Surbiton to designs by Spare (1888-1956). It is unclear whether the designs, one of which is help by Prints and Drawings at the V&A, were commissioned by Cowell from Spare or reused from a previous commission.
