Physical description
Vase of black basalt with 'encaustic' painting in red, white and black. Made in imitation of a Greek amphora of the fifth century B.C. On the front are figures of two ladies, one with a mirror in her hand leaning against a column, the other holding a thyrsus; round the rim, the bottom of the neck, the lower part of the body and the foot are bands of conventional ornament.
