Case: Of wrought iron throughout, with posted frame and wedged fastenings. Lantern shaped with open sides with a crowned top enclosing a double alarm originally struck by two knights on horseback.
Dial: The dial is missing
Movement: Angled corner-posts with Gothic mouldings; the bell straps similar. Two bells mounted one above the other, the top finial missing. Three trains end-to-end, with going train in front, quarter-chiming in centre and striking train behind. The going train formerly with foliot or wheel balance, but now with horizontal crown-wheel, the verge and pendulum and outer bearing for pallet arbor all missing. Formerly with both hour and minute hands (i.e. hand making one revolution per hour) and with moon-phase dial above chapter ring: these are all now missing. Quarter-chiming, with locking-plate, the bell-hammer striking the upper-bell. Locking-plate striking with outside locking-plate at rear of frame, with internal teeth for drive. A jack in the form of a mounted horseman in armour strikes the hour on the lower bell, at the left side: the corresponding jack at the right is missing. All three weight pulleys with ratchets.
Stand: square mahogany stand with four fluted columns supporting a revolving platform on a central column surrounded by eight balusters.
