BALCONY PANEL Cast iron Scotland; c. 1824-30 Probably made by the Carron Company, Falkirk, Scotland, founded in 1759 and one of the pioneers in the manufacture of cast decorative iron. The firm had a close connection with the designers John and Robert Adam, producing many of their designs for ironwork. This panel appears in the Carron catalogue for 1824, and in L.N. Cottingham's pattern book of the same year, The Smith and Founders Director. It is still popular today. Gift of the University of London Museum No. M.1-1962(07/1994)

From 15-20 Torrington Square. Probably made by the Carron Company, Falkirk, Scotland, founded in 1759 and one of the pioneers in the manufacture of cast decorative iron. The firm had a close connection with the designers John and Robert Adam, producing many of their designs for ironwork. This panel appears in the Carron catalogue for 1824, and in L.N. Cottingham's pattern book of the same year, The Smith and Founders Director. It is still popular today.
