Brief description | Rosary of wooden beads with silver reliquary cross, Wurttemberg (Germany), 1800-1870. |
Physical description | Rosary, consisting of five decades of plain brown beads, separated by matching turned paternoster beads with silver caps. A short strip of three beads hangs from the lowest paternoster, with a silver credo cross, with arms shaped like balusters, at the end. A reliquary cross, with five compartments inside, hangs from the credo cross. The cover of the reliquary cross is attached by a hook at the top, and a small screw at the bottom. The front of the cover is engraved with the Virgin and Child, between the symbols of the four apostles. The back of the cross is engraved with the crucifixion, with the label 'INRI' above the body of Christ. |
