Purse

1660-1699 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Heart-shaped purse made of silver filigree and lined with salmon-pink cloth. The purse opens at the pointed end, and is held shut by silver cords, which run through the gathered folds of the lining. Each of the two cords has a tassel at its end. There is a larger similar tassel coming out of the top of the heart, so that it looks like a flaming heart. The two sides of the heart are made of open filigree, bordered with loops of wire with granules, and decorated with small open wire rosettes. They were originally identical, but some of the rosettes are now missing.
