FRENCH: First half of the 16th century.
Front of an oak coffer with four panels carved with the following subjects beginning at the left; 1) floral scrollwork terminating in animals’ heads and surmounted by a cherub’s head, 2) an ornamental stand, surmounted by a floral ornament and scrolls, 3) floral scrollwork, terminating in horses heads and 4) floral scrollwork surmounted by a cherub’s head. Four turned half-balusters are applied to the framework between panels.
