South Italian: late 17th century.
Panel of a church screen. Pinewood with decoration carved in openwork relief, covered with paint over gesso, and partly gilt. In the centre, an altar, bearing the attitudes of adoration, that on the right-hand side bearing in his right arm a cross, that on the left supporting himself on an anchor. At each end of the panel is a winged putto-head supported by bunches of grapes and vine-leaves and by a cornucopia containing heads of wheat.
