This cushion cover is typical of the region it was made, in the placement of its design, with embroidery along three of the four sides, and an identical pattern front and back. In homes in the Greek Islands of the Cyclades, such cushions were piled on the bed in an alcove hung with embroidered curtains. Only the edges of the cushions that showed would be decorated.
