Ora et Lapora Bethe und Arbeide (The inscription on this textile has the same meaning in Latin and German: “ Ora et Lapora” and “Bethe und Arbeide”, both meaning pray and work. However the way “lapora” (should be labora), behte (bete in high German) and arbeide (arbeite in high German) are spelt might suggest a dialect. )
