Table cloth of linen damask. The design of the cloth commemorates the visit of George IV to Edinburgh in 1822. The background is plain with scattered single roses and thistles. In the central cartouche supported by two lions and two putti appears the inscription in florid lettering 'God Save Great George our King'. Above the cartouche a vase with two more putti holding cornucopiae, and the whole is surmounted by the Royal arms with trophies and flags.
At one end is a large cornucopia filled with flowers and fruit are surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves. At the other end is a bouquet of flowers tied with a ribbon, surrounded by a wreath of wheat. A female figure decolletée holding a wheat-sheaf and a sickle, possibly representing Ceres, appears four times on each side of the central motifs. The wide border is of looped garland of fruit and flowers held by tassels, terminating at the four corners in a rose and lily intertwined and framed by a crossed palm fronds.
