Mirror frame of embroidered cream satin with coloured silks, white linen thread, coloured purl, metal thread, metal strip, silk cord, seed pearls and beads in long and short, satin, stem and rococo stitches with French knots, laid and couched work, cut and uncut silk pile, detached needlepoint stitches and pieces of applied satin. Most of the figures are in raised work with lace collars and cuffs and garments of applied fabric or detached needlepoint.

The frame is embroidered with five scenes from the Birth of Christ: 'The Annunciation' on either side of the mirror; 'The Angel appearing to the Shepherds' in the top left hand corner with an angel carrying a scroll inscribed 'CHRISTUS NATUS EST' and a lamb bearing another scroll inscribed 'BETHLEHM'; 'The Visitation of the Shepherds' on the top right hand corner; 'The Adoration of the Magi' in the top centre; and the 'The Flight into Egypt' in the bottom centre. The remaining spaces are filled with large flowers, birds, a lion and a leopard.
