Object history
Toile of trousers cut for both men and women. The diagonal cut of the waist accommodates 25-29 inches. The four toiles in this group were given by Homer Lane, James’ assistant in the latter part of his life. Toiles were made in 1972. All but the trousers were made from early designs that he developed in the late twenties and early thirties.
