Object history | Description from the acquisition register Parasol, the cover of black Chantilly pillow-made lace over white silk, the stick of white wood with long ivory handle curved at the end. There is a loose cover of deep purple damask. The lace pattern consists of a central rosette with radiating leaves, surrounded by dots and a way floral stem; the border is a close row of oval compartments containing blossoms. The plain stick is jointed in the middle with a brass cylindrical fastening, and the ivory finial is T shaped. The satin cover has a bunch of flowers in the middle, and a repeating wavy stem bearing flowers and leaves forms the borders. The parasol has a thin lilac-coloured silk inner lining, and there is a short fringe to the white silk outer lining. |
