Sheet part of woven linen. Part of a lace-edged cover. Decorated with a border of openwork (1 inch wide; 2.5 cms). Cut and pulled-thread work from a square-meshed ground which is whipped and decorated with a pattern of angular 'S' and 'X' shaped in delicate interlace stitches. The lower edge is further trimmed with bobbin lace, worked in whole stitch, plaits and twist, forming slightly pointed vandykes. The sides are turned and hemmed. The top has been roughly cut across.

It was been preserved with a recusant chalice, which was also acquired by the Museum (M.1&A-1986).
