ZAXAPIOY (The significance of the name Zachariou is uncertain. It occurs frequently on objects of this pattern; sometimes the name is Joseph. The suggestion that it is the name of the weaver is not likely, perhaps it is intended for the name of the rider, or of an official.)

Zachary or Zacharias

Object history
Object found to be part of the same original silk as a piece now in the British Museum and also given by Henry Wallis, 1904.0706.41 (analysis undertaken by Barbara Köstner, Universität zu Köln, 2019). The two pieces had been cut apart and the join between the two matched perfectly; it is unclear when the piece was cut apart, however.
