Pyx and Crucifix

Both the pyx and the cross were described as 17th-century when they were acquired in 1893. Medieval religious jewellery of this kind was very popular in the late 19th century, and is not always as old as its original owners believed. The conservative design of the crucifix remained in common use up to the end of the 19th century.
