Armchair, RZ 62, designed by Dieter Rams. Born 1932. West Germany. Designed 1962 and manufactured by Vitsoe, Eschborn. Relaunched by Vitsoe in 2006.

Industrial designer, born 1932. trained Wiesbaden Academy. Head of Product Design Division, Braun AG (Frankfurt), from 1955. Shared Grand Prix awards for Braun total production at Milan Triennale exhibitions 1957 and 1960; Compasso d’Oro award 1962; Gold Medals Milan, and Ljubljana 1964; AID award, USA 1966; Rossenthal Studio Prize, 1966; Gold Medal for Vitsoe chairs Vienna 1969. Hon Royal Designer for Industry.

The standard motif is offered with flanks in two colours, and with leather or cloth-covered upholstery. It knocks down for compact warehousing etc., and is simple to assemble. The main components can alternatively be made up for linked seating. The range was awarded the Rosenthal Studio Prize 1966, and a Gold medal at the International Furniture Exhibition, Vienna 1969.
