This statuette representing Louis XVI of France was probably made in about 1700-1750. The figure is made of wood, but has been completely gilt, perhaps in imitation of more valuable gilt bronze statuettes.

Physical description

Statuette of Louis XVI standing and wearing a short wig tied with ribbon. He wears a classical cuirass and buskins. His left hand is supported on an elongated octagonal shield, his right probably held a staff (now missing).
