Relief the deposition, wood South German about 1700.
Physical description
Relief in horse-chestnut wood depicting the Deposition. The figure of the Dead Christ rests on a rock supported at the back by a bearded figure of St. Joseph. The shrouded and weeping Virgin holds his left arm and behind her stand the Magdalene and St. John. In the background the base of the cross and ladder and rocky landscape.
