This is a highly coloured version of a Rosellino relief in the Victoria and Albert Museum collections and is one of the sculptor's most frequently copied reliefs. The Virgin is seated facing the the right, holding the seated Child on her left knee. He holds a bird in his left hand and touches his mother's arm with his right.
