This bronze plaquette representing the Adoration of the Magi was made by Moderno in the 16th century Padua, Italy. This was formerly gilt but is now cracked and the surface is much worn.

Physical description

Plaquette in bronze, the Adoration of the Magi. Before the stable is seated the Virgin with the Child on her knee, and St. Joseph and another child by her side. The first king has a long beard and kneels before the Child, behind him are the other two kings with their gifts attended by three men. From the rocks to the left descends a procession of men and animals. Above is the star.
