This plaquette in gilt bronze representing the Assumption of the Virgin was probably made in the 17th century Italy. It was acquired by Dr. Hildburgh in Bologna in 1910.

Physical description

Plaquette in gilt bronze representing the Assumption of the Virgin. The Virgin is borne up to heaven by two cherubs one of whom lets fall some rose-buds. Below is a large sarcophagus with a shroud thrown over one corner.
