This gilt bronze plaquette represents the Assumption of the Virgin. It is made in South Germany, possibly Munich, in the early 17th century.
The Virgin raises in a cloud her feet resting on Cherubim, and supported by four Angels, two on each side. Her mandorla is flanked by clouds. Cherubim appear in the clouds and against the mandorla. At the bottom is a landscape, with a tree stump to the left. To the right hills and a wood. In the centre is the empty tomb.
