This plaquette depicting a battle scene was probably made in Flanders in about 1580. This represents the expulsion of the foreign troops from the castle of Antwerp in 1577, after a tint by J. Wierix (1549-after 1618) and M. de Vos.

Physical description
Plaquette in bronze depicting a battle scene. Within a circular decorated border, a scene of battle. In the background, fortifications surrounded by a moat over which as a bridge crowded with soldiers. In the foreground more soldiers wearing breastplates and cuirasses and carrying swords and firearms. At the top surrounded by clouds sits the figure of Justice.
