This bronze medal is made by Giovanni Hamerani in ca. 1699 in Italy. The depicted Livio Odescalchi (1652-5-1713) was the nephew of Pope Innocent the Eleventh and Duke of Bracciano, Sirmio e Ceri. He was a great collector of Roman antiquities and was one of the most prominent figures in Rome during his lifetime.
Giovanni Hamerani (1649-1705) became an important medallist to the papal mint. Especially for Innocent XI, but later also for Pope Innocent XII and Pope Clement XI. He was regarded as one of the most capable and respected medallists of his epoch.
