Place of origin

This medal depicts the bust of Marcus Aurelius and is an imitation of a Roman coin, made by Giovanni Cavino (ca. 1499-1570), in Padua in the 16th century.
The medallist Giovanni di Bartolommeo dal Cavino, called Giovanni Cavino (1500-1570) was a medallist, whose oevre consists of more than 100 medals. Bassiano was his friend and a noted antiquarian scholar and collector of ancient coins.
