This medal depicting Borso d' Este is made by Petrecini, a Florentine medallist, who was working ca. 1460 at Ferrara. Not many medals have been ascribed to him with certainty.
Borso d' Este (1413-1471) was the first Duke of Ferrara, which he ruled until his death.

This medal depicts on the obverse the bust to the left of Borso, in an embroidered caot, adn wearing a "Biretta a tozzo". Inscription. On the reverse in a hilly landscape, is a hexagonal casket, half open, showing in the insde a ring. Above, teh sun sending down rays. Three of the hills in the background are crowned with castles. Inscription.
