This medal was issued to commemorate the Paris Olympics in 1924 and is made by the medallist Raoul Réné Alphonse Bénard (1881-1961), in France in 1924.
The Olympics of 1924 in Paris were Summer Olympics. Paris - although having hosted the 1900 Games - could compete against the cities of Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, and Rome. In tribute to Pierre Coubertin, the retiring president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and founder of the Olympic movement the 1924 Olympic Games were held in Paris.
