This medal depicting the Emperor Napoleon III (Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, accession 2 Dec 1852-1870, d. 1873), is made by François Joseph Hubert Ponscarme in France in 1867 and was issued as Prize medal on the occasion of the Paris International Exhibition in 1867.
In addition to creating this medal and a medallion, Ponscarme was awarded the Medal of the first class at the 1867 exhibition and was created Knight of the Legion of Honour. He was Professor of medal-engraving at the National School of Arts, Paris.

Physical description

Obverse: Profile portrait of Napoleon III (Louis Napoleon Bonaparte), bearded and crowned with laurel wreath. Legend at left and right. Signed.
Reverse: Winged female figure representing Fame carrying a plan of the exhibition flies over the top of the Globe. Legend. Signed.
