This medal commemorates the death of Charlotte Augusta, Princess of Wales (1796-1817). She was the only child of the Prince Regent and Caroline of Brunswick and was the heiress presumptive to the British throne. She died in childbirth the year after her marriage to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg, the future King of the Belgians.

Obverse: draped bust of Princess Charlotte, her hair decorated with roses, facing three quarters right. Inscription.
Reverse: Britannia is seated facing left and weeping, with the British lion by her side. In the background are an urn, a broken column and the sun hidden behind clouds. Inscription.
