This medal depicting the portrait of H.R.H. Henry William Duke of Clarence, Lord High Admiral, is made by the Scottish sculptor John Henning (1771-1851), in England in 1827. Henry William followed George IV(he died in 1830) as King William IV. He was then already aged 64.

Physical description

Obverse: Bust of Duke of Clarence facing right. Legend.
Reverse: In the foreground a full-length figure of Britannia walking on the sea, faces right wearing a helmet and holding a shield (which bears artist's signature), and trident in her left hand and palm leaves in her right hand. In the background is the ocean with a large tall ship to her right and another half obscured behind her left side. Legend.
