Philibert II, Le Beau, became the 8th Duke of Savoy in 1497. His wife was Margaret of Austria (1480-1530), they got married in 1501.
The medallist and goldsmith Jean Marenede came from Bourg-en-Bresse. There is nothing more known about his life.

Physical description
Medal depicts on the obverse the bust to right of Philibert and to left of Margaret, facing. Philibert wears a flat cap and she a coif with a veil falling to the shoulders. Inscription.
On the reverse an escutcheon, impaling the arms of Savoy and Austria. Above a large true-love knot. Inscription.
