Stucco pigmented statuette of the Virgin and Child, by Antonio Rossellino, Italy, third quarter of the 15th century

The Virgin and Child, painted stucco, probably after a marble. The Virgin is seated on a low throne looking downwards at the Child which rests at her right arm, supported by her left hand. She wears a dark blue cloak over a high braided light red dress with blue cuffs. The child nestles his head against her breast. The Virgin's head has been broken and repaired and the figure would appears to have been repainted several times.
