This gilded terracotta relief was probably made by Alessandro Algardi in the 17th century Rome, Italy. This relief represents Christ entering the rocky mouth of Hell from the left and holds a flag in his left hand. Before him kneel Adam and Eve, King David with a harp, and a bearded man. All these figures are modelled partly in the round. In the background, in low relief, are a bishop and other figures. In a black moulded wood frame of later date.

Physical description
Relief in gilded terracotta. Christ is entering the rocky mouth of Hell from the left and holds a flag in his left hand. Before him kneel Adam and Eve. King David with a harp, and a bearded man. All these figures are modelled partly in the round. In the background, in low relief, are a bishop and other figures. In a black moulded wood frame of later date. The right arm of Christ broken away, only an iron dowel remaining. Probably a panel from an altarpiece.
