This bust, representing Saint John the Baptist is made by the Master of the David and St. John Statuettes in Florence in ca. 1500.

The Master of the David and St. John Statuettes is a name assigned by scholars to the artists (there were at least two) who created a series of small sculptures on these and other biblical themes.

Physical description
This bust representing Saint John the Baptist rests on a shallow base, and is cut off above the elbows and through the chest. The head is shown upwards to the right, and the long curling hair falls on the shoulders. In front the hair tunic is open, and is pierced at the corners with two small holes.
