Faustina Bordoni was a celebrated prima donna who performed throughout Europe, including in London, where she was engaged by Handel. Her notorious rivalry with Francesca Cuzzoni created two factions in the London opera-going society. On the reverse side a female figure is represented in flowing robes, holding a trombone in her left hand and seated on a pile of musical instruments.

This medal of Faustina Bordoni, which exists in two versions is the only known medal signed by the Italian sculptor and architect Giuseppe Broccetti.
