This relief was traditionally attributed to Michelangelo, but the material and style point rather to the Souther Netherlands, and in particular to the work of Dubroeucq, exemplified by the reliefs from the demolished rood-loft in Ste Waudru, Mons (1535-48). It may be identical with a relief recorded at the castle of Mariemont in an inventory of 1557.

Relief, alabaster, The Dead Christ Supported by God the Father. God the Father is shown in the centre of the relief gazing downwards to the right and supporting the arms of the dead Christ, whose body rests across his knee. In the upper left corner are two angels holding the Cross and nails.
