In the middle, the Virgin Mary reclines watching the baby Jesus who lies in a basket-work crib before her, while at her feet an angel kneels and a shepherd looks over her right shoulder. To the right there is a shepherd approaching with his dog while behind him while another feeds the ox and ass from a manger. On the left a shepherd is shown kneeling at the head of the crib while another stands behind him and above there are rays issuing from a semicricle of clouds in which fly two putti.
