The centre is in the form of a cup with short stem and circular foot; the rim is flanged and has three projecting scallop-shaped bowls set round it at intervals. Between these are Classical winged sphinxes (attached by screws) sitting on their haunches with their wings hooked over the bowls. The whole is fixed to a triangular base mounted on three clawed feet.
