This bronze base of a table ornament is made in Venice in the late 15th century or early 16th century. It is made in the form of a fountain. The base is hexagonal, each side decorated in relief with an eagle between grotesque monsters with foliated scrollwork. The feet are formed by winged heads. The centre, of baluster form with scroll brackets, supports a bowl decorated with acanthus leaves and a coiled openwork band.
