This inkstand is made for Organtine Scarola, Bishop of San Marco.
It is a rectangular inkstand, standing on four lion's paw feet and terminating above in female winged heads. The interior is divided into 5 compartments. The cover is stepped with a flat top, which is surmounted by a shield of arms, held by two putti. The shield bears the arms of Scarola and a bishop's mitre.
Scarola was bishop from the 16th April 1569 until his death in 1572.

Physical description
This rectangular inkstand is standing on four lion's paw feet, terminating above in female winged heads; in the centre of each side of the inkstand is a cockle shell. The interior is divided into 5 compartments. Stepped cover with flat top surmounted by a shield of arms held upright by two reclining putti. On one side of the shield, the arms of Scarola, on the other, a bishop's mitre. On the cover repeated on front and back, a legend inscribed. On each of the sloping sides of the cover are a winged cherub's head and palmettes connected by ribbons. At each corner an acanthus leaf and palmette combined.
