This medal representing France was made by Louis Bottée in France in about 1899. Bottée (1852-1941) went to the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and from 1871 at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, where he was a pupil to Ponscarme, Dumont and Millet. In 1878 Bottée was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome. Among other awards he received a gold medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle and was made an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 1903.
