This is the Exhibitor's medal of the Great Exhibition in 1851. Five medals were presented as part of the various prizes awarded to those connected with the exhibition. A small number of these five medals were made up into sets and presented to the twenty-four Commitioners who were responsible for the organisation of the exhibition.
