This silver Air Force cross medal was made by E. Carter Preston in England, 1918. The obverse represents a circular medallion in the centre carved with Mercury holding a laurel wreath riding on an eagle. The cross is surmounted by a crown and has rays between the arms. The reverse is plain with the inscription 'G.R.I. 1918.' This medal has a ribbon with wide slanting scarlet lines on a white ground.
