This statuette in terracotta depicts Samson and the Lion and is made by Michiel Van der Voort, in the South Netherlands in 1706.
Samson, his legs astride, leans backward and to his right, as he tears the jaws of the lion. He is naked except for drapery over his left thigh ahich falls down between his legs and serves as a support to the group.
