The prototype for this figure is the statuette of Peter Vischer the Elder in the niche of the east side of the tomb of St Sebaldus in the church of St Sebaldus in Nuremberg. The figure of Vischer on the tomb was removed in 1830 for reproductions to be made by the Nuremberg foundry of Jakob Daniel Burgschmiet. These metal reproductions served as models for other bronze casts produced during the 19th century. The exact date of this cast statuette is not possible to be suggested since the reproductions made in 1830 and later cannot be clearly distinquished.

Physical description
Statuette of the bearded figure, standing, dressed in a cap and a leather apron. He holds a hammer in his right hand and a chisel in his left. Hollow cast in a copper alloy; applied black varnish has been partially worn away. The mallet and the chisel are integrally cast with the hands.
