This gold coin depicts the 5th Duke of Milan, Galeazzo Maria Sforza (1444-1476). He as the first son of Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Visconti. He married into the Gonzaga family, and after the death of his wife Dorotea, married Bona di Savoia. He was Duke of Milan from 1466 until his death - he was assassinated.

Physical description

Coin depicts on the obverse the head of Sforza to the right, armour at neck. Inscription. On the reverse a helmet with coronet and the Visconti crest, a dragon swallowing a child. Below a shield with the Visconti arms. Inscription.
